At times we take pride in losing the game of ego. A sublime idea to deny the egoist inside to dig further and evolve a new methodology of hatred. This subconscious alteration to our thoughts are reminiscent of a few good things we have heard but we tend to forget. We come across many art forms and the spirituality of few artists has enabled them to carve into the head of listeners. They never call themselves preachers or doesn’t try to sell it.

The history of music provides to us the fact that it was used as a medium of communication between God and Men. The later stage of the musical revolution brought up real problems faced by Men. Invasion of songwriting turned music into a form of expression. We were given legendary artists to propagate peace and love. Later years of the 20th century witnessed the rebirth of romanticism.

A short man from Britain sang “Sensitivity builds a prison in the final act”. Elton John wanted to call out to the world that Man is whiplashed by his own surroundings. It is obvious that we all try to lock our self up with the chains of susceptibility. The eternal success of “Sacrifice” which appeared in the 1989 album SLEEPING WITH THE PAST broke the dogma of love songs.

One of the most high-toned youth movement of the 20th century was the spread of hippie culture. Towards the death of the ’80s American youth was inescapable to champion the Yuppie lifestyle. “Hip to be square” is a homage to the hip culture and a monologue of an individual caught in a transition period. This super hit first-person song narrates how time has changed everything. The singer realizes that he is nowhere and calls his idea repeatedly crazy. Huey Lewis and News put forwards the idea of modesty and doesn’t hurt the feelings of those who still preached the hippie culture.

John Lennon is indisputably the greatest visionary among the legendary band ‘Beatles’. His solo song “Imagine’ possess an enduring soul which craves peace. This 1971 October release is one among the songs to be heard and understood by everyone if he is not blind or deaf. Lennon calls himself a dreamer but reveals that the ultimate desire of humankind is for a nation he proposed through his words. It is necessary to forget worldly possessions to make this world one.

These three songs may not have found a place on your playlist but it certainly has to. A song can sometimes make you feel better and at times it can create a spark. Imagine a wonderful scene of encountering your love while you are playing your favourite love song in your head. The magic of songs and music is yet to be discovered if you haven’t related them to beautiful moments and lustrous people you have met.
